5 Adrenaline-Fueled Paintball Game Modes to Try with Your Squad
May 26, 2025Whether you’re heading to your first match or your hundredth, showing up without the right gear can ruin the day before it starts. Paintball is all about preparation, and having everything you need — from your mask to your last pod — ensures you’re safe, comfortable, and ready to dominate.
This ultimate paintball gear checklist is designed for players of all levels. Use it before every game day to stay organized, stay protected, and stay in the game.
1. Marker (Paintball Gun)
Your primary tool on the field. Make sure it’s clean, functional, and ready to go. If you have a backup marker, bring it — malfunctions happen.
2. Hopper/Loader
This holds and feeds paintballs into your marker. Make sure it’s compatible with your gun and has fresh batteries if it’s electronic.
3. Air Tank
CO2 or HPA — whichever your marker uses. Double-check the air level and ensure your tank is in good condition and within hydro test date.
4. Paintballs
Bring more than you think you’ll need, especially if you’re playing multiple games. Store them in a cool, dry place to avoid swelling or cracking.
5. Pods and Pod Pack
Pods are tubes that carry extra paintballs. A good pod pack keeps them secure and accessible while running. 3 to 6 pods is usually enough for a session.
6. Mask/Goggles
Arguably the most important piece of gear. Make sure the lens is clean, undamaged, and doesn’t fog. Consider anti-fog spray or thermal lenses.
7. Paintball Jersey and Pants
Wear breathable, padded gear made for paintball. It should protect you without restricting movement. Avoid thick cotton — it soaks up sweat and paint.
8. Gloves
Protect your hands from hits and rough surfaces. Full-finger or fingerless — pick what gives you the best trigger feel.
9. Cleats or Field Shoes
Traction matters. Wear boots or cleats that are comfortable, grip well, and can handle dirt, mud, or turf.
10. Neck Protector & Elbow/Knee Pads
Optional, but highly recommended — especially for woodsball or aggressive speedball. Padding reduces bruising and adds confidence.
11. Squeegee or Barrel Swab
Paint breaks happen. A quick barrel clean can get you back in action without skipping a round.
12. Microfiber Cloth or Towel
For cleaning lenses, wiping off paint, or general gear maintenance between rounds.
13. O-Rings, Tools, and Lubricant
Bring a small kit with Allen keys, spare O-rings, marker oil or grease, and any tools specific to your marker.
14. Extra Batteries
If you use an electronic marker or hopper, always carry fresh spare batteries — usually 9V or AA.
15. Water and Snacks
Stay hydrated and energized. Paintball is a physically demanding sport.
16. Weather Gear
Check the forecast and bring what you need: a poncho, sunblock, beanie, or even a towel for wet gear.
17. ID or Waiver Form
Some fields require identification or a signed waiver. Keep a copy on your phone or in your bag.
18. Change of Clothes
You’ll get dirty — guaranteed. Bring something clean and comfortable to change into after your session.
19. Duct Tape or Zip Ties
Handy for quick fixes to gear, pods, or clothing in a pinch.
20. Your A-Game Attitude
Most important of all: bring your energy, sportsmanship, and readiness to have fun.
Final Tip
Pack your bag the night before and double-check it in the morning. A little preparation goes a long way in keeping you focused on the field — not scrambling on the sidelines.
Print this checklist. Tape it to your gear bag. Share it with your squad. Because forgetting your mask isn’t just annoying — it’s game over before it starts.
